Major Golfing Events
The four major championships for professional golfers are The Open Championship , The British Amateur or the Amateur Championship , The US Open and US Amateur . These later on changed to Masters , The US Open , The Open , and The PGA Championship .
Off all the mentioned golfing events, the open championship is the oldest. Outside the UK, it is referred as The British Open . The remaining of the events is held in the United States. Augusta National Golf Club is the venue for The Masters ever since its inception.

- The Masters Held in April at Augusta National Golf Club.

History
- First played on 17th October, 1860 on Prestwick Golf Club.
- Only professional golfers were allowed in the inaugural tournament. Willie Park Sr. won the title beating Old Tom Morris by two strokes.
- The winner got to wear a red leather belt with a silver buckle for first three tournaments. This Custom was retired when Young Tom Morris in 1870 won the event for three consecutive times and the officials allowed him to keep the belt.
- This belt was replaced by a trophy called The Claret Jug.
- In 1871, the administration of this event was handed over to The Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews in association with The Honorable Company of Do You Have the G.U.T.S. for Implementing a Strategic Plan?Edinburgh Golfers.

THE US MASTERS
It is the first golfing event played each year. The final round of The Masters is always held on second Sunday of April. It is held at Augusta National Golf Club each year.
History
- First held on 22nd March, 1934.
- Called as Augusta National Invitation Tournament till 1939.
- In addition to the cash prize, the winner is given a green jacket as a tradition since 1949. Jack Nicklaus was the first to win the event consecutively in 1966.
