Larry Joe Bird was born in December of 1956 and is listed among the greatest NBA basketball players of all time. His induction to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame took place in 1988. In 1978, he was the sixth overall draft pick, taken by the Boston Celtics, with whom he spent his entire 13-year career. He played small forward and power forward positions for the team. Bird retired as a player in 1992, proceeding to take a position as assistant in the front office for the Celtics until 1997. At that time, he became the head coach for the Indiana Pacers and remained so until 2000. In 2003, he took on the

job of president of basketball operations for the Pacers, which he still holds.

Well, we re glad to have you sir! So will there be four golfers?

Yes, me and my buddies but you re defining golfers rather loosely. We re riding the course on a cart with golf bags, but we re not golfers. A quick chuckle and the pro processed my slip of paper.

The 2006 NBA playoffs are off and running this year with many potential surprises on the way. The regular season is over, with the number one Detroit Pistons facing the number eight Milwaukee Bucks in the eastern conference. Other match-ups in the eastern conference are the Chicago Bulls against the Miami Heat, the Indiana Pacers versus the New Jersey Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers squaring off against the Washington Wizards. The eastern conference is having some tough series. So far nobody is going to be swept in a series with the Bucks grabbing a win against the Pistons after being down a few games. The rest of the teams have been tied up and time

will tell who will advance into the semi-finals for the conference.
